As most of you know, Avery has been struggling with ear infections since she was born. This year alone she's suffered over 8 ear infections. We made the decision to get tubes in her ears. Kim recommended an excellent ENT doctor at Primary's. We had to wait a few months to get in to see him but I think it was worth it. The day of her surgery Avery was pretty congested and had a bad cough. The anesthesiologist was worried about putting her under for the surgery with a cold because the medicine could harm her. He warned us that she might need to stay in the hospital overnight. That really had me worried. But everything turned out okay and we were able to take her home a few hours later. It's always scary when a small child has to be put under, but we're glad we had the surgery done. We've already seen a big improvement in her health.
Here are a few pictures of the day of surgery. She wasn't feeling very good because she wasn't allowed to eat anything. She also wasn't allowed in the waiting room with all the toys because she might infect other kids. It was a struggle trying to keep her happy without toys and food. She wore this funny little hospital gown. The last picture is her after surgery. She was so out of it!
